Using the photos taken, I've used photoshop to place the below image together. We had some intense Hubba Bubba chewing, who knew blowing bubbles was so tiring! Unfortunately because it was just Angus and I taking the photos, we didn't have a third person to take shots of us bubble joining in real life, but I quite like the idea of getting loads of people involved and to have shots with different mixtures of people doing this, it would be really fun and unexpected, I think.
We booked out the photography studio and took 400 photographs looking at different ways to use bubbles, but in a different way to how they have been used in past adverts. We are interested in he colours reflected in the bubbles, which is why we focused on using a black backdrop as it was the most enhancing. Past O2 packaging has the standard blue and white colour scheme which we are keen to re-invent. We also kept in mind different aspects on how we could utilise connecting or splitting photos across the packaging so that connections can be made as it is put together. YCN brief- O2 Collaboration
My initial three reasons for choosing the YCN O2 brief were:
• I really appreciate the 02 adverts and feel it would be a huge challenge to work towards.
• The fact that this is a collaborative brief lends itself well to the foundation of what the 02 brand is about – ‘getting better connected’ so the more people getting involved and having fun with it, the better!
• I enjoy getting involved and active within a brief and feel like this could be a great change to develop further skills in any direction it takes, whether print based, packaging or digital format.
Angus and I chose to work together as we had a mutual interest in focusing on the O2 brief and had not worked collaboratively before. Angus is better with digital software and we both have mixed talents within packaging, print, type and layout.
After coming up with initial concepts, we decided we wanted to focus on the slogan 'we're better connected' through re-designing the packaging. There is potential to incorporate the way in which the packaging functions and the way it is put together which may be used to reflect being 'better connected', along with visuals on the packaging which may also reflect connecting.
